How to download your Change.org petition signatures Where to find your downloaded file Opening your signature file Converting to PDF for printing Why download counts may differ from petition page Frequently Asked Questions I can't find the download option on my petition. What should I do? Why can’t I see my petition signer’s email addresses? My download email hasn’t arrived. What should I do? I need to present my signatures at a hearing or deliver them to officials. What format should I use?

When you're ready to share your petition's impact with decision makers, you can download a list of your supporters from Change.org.

Important: The download option is available no earlier than 24 hours after you've created your petition, and files are emailed to you in spreadsheet(CSV) format.

Because opening CSV files requires spreadsheet software, we recommend using a desktop or laptop computer rather than a smartphone or tablet.

How to download your Change.org petition signatures

Follow these steps to export your petition signatures from the Change.org dashboard:

  • Log into your Change.org account
  • Go to your "My Petitions" page using the link at the top of the page, or click the menu icon (three bars on mobile, profile icon on desktop)
  • Click on the petition whose signatures you want to download to open your petition dashboard
  • Scroll down to find the "Recent Supporters" section on your dashboard
  • Find "Full supporter list" at the bottom of the Recent Supporters section
  • Use the dropdown to select whether you want just signatures, or signatures with comments
  • Click the "Get list" button

Where to find your downloaded file

After clicking "Get list," your signature file will be emailed to you shortly in spreadsheet format.

If your petition has a high number of signatures, it may take some time for the email to arrive.

Opening your signature file

You can open your downloaded Change.org signature file in any spreadsheet application, including:

● Microsoft Excel

● LibreOffice - free and open source

● OpenOffice - free and open source

● Google Spreadsheet

● Numbers app (MacOS only)

Note about character encoding: Microsoft Excel sometimes does not recognize some encodings well, including languages that do not use A-Z and even A-Z with accents or diacritic marks. If you see strange characters in your file, we recommend downloading and installing LibreOffice or OpenOffice instead, which will be able to handle your downloads.

Converting to PDF for printing

If you need a PDF version of your signatures to present to decision makers, you can convert the spreadsheet on your computer. Excel has built-in PDF export functionality - see this guide on converting Excel to PDF for instructions.

Why download counts may differ from petition page

The number of signatures in your downloaded file may differ slightly from what you see on your petition page. This can happen because:

● It can take up to 24 hours for recent signatures to appear in your download, especially during high activity periods. Try waiting a bit, then downloading again.

● If a signer didn't verify their email address, their signature may not be counted.

● Signatures from invalid or suspicious email addresses (such as those containing + or starting with info) may be automatically removed, which can cause slight fluctuations in the total count.

● Signers also have the option to remove their signature if they change their mind.

Frequently Asked Questions

I can't find the download option on my petition. What should I do?

  • Make sure 24 hours have passed since you created the petition.
  • Ensure you are logged into the same account that created the petition.
  • If you're on mobile and cannot see the option, try using a desktop browser.

Go to My Petitions, select your petition, and scroll to the “Recent Supporters” section to find “Full supporter list.”

Why can’t I see my petition signer’s email addresses?

As per our privacy policy, petition signer’s email addresses are not shared with the petition starter. The information shared is limited to:

- Name: The "First Name" and "Last Name" registered on the signer's account.

- Location: The "Country" and the postal code, which is either automatically detected based on the IP address or manually entered by the signer.

- Date: The "Year, Month, and Day" when the signer supported the petition.

- Comment (Optional): Any comment submitted on the petition page.

To contact your supporters, please use the petition update feature instead of requesting email addresses.

My download email hasn’t arrived. What should I do?

  • Check your spam or junk folder.
  • Wait a bit longer if your petition has a high number of signatures.
  • Try downloading again after some time.

If the issue persists, contact Support.

I need to present my signatures at a hearing or deliver them to officials. What format should I use?

For formal presentations, convert your signature spreadsheet to PDF using Excel's built-in export feature or free tools like LibreOffice. PDF format is easier to share, print, and present professionally at hearings or when delivering to decision makers.
